To bypass/override the V-CHIP password see the see explanation above, and to clear the forgotten parental control password (DVD mode) you need to hold down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the FOUR key on the REMOTE until the message “Initialize5 Complete” appears on the TV screen. ![]() On TV model #MD14FN1, the one I have, you can set two passwords, one to set the V-CHIP password in TV MODE, and the second one to set the Parental Control password in DVD mode. It seems that this process of bypassing a forgotten V-CHIP password key is the same for quite a few Toshiba’s models. Also, I found in the internet a Toshiba Service Instruction specifications sheet with the same process for different models #’s. This will alow you to go to the V-CHIP menu (TV MODE) and set a new password. The TV was a Toshiba model #MD13P1 and the V-CHIP was bypassed holding down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the ZERO key on the REMOTE control. I GOT IT! I found a past posting here in TECHLORE.COM dated. But you say that where you live, you can only get knock off PS2 controllers. Ive been lazy about cleaning them because I still have several other working controllers, so I just use those. I have several PS2 controllers with similar issues with different buttons. Thanks Matt for replying my posting, but I got it! I would recommend cleaning the contacts as well. ![]()
